words we use are more important than you think

Happy New Working Week

Although some parts of the world are still on vacation.

(you know who you are)

Hello friends, old and new.

There have been many sign ups to the newsletter this past week. Welcome! I hope it doesn't disappoint. It's important to mention these newsletters are pretty rare. I usually wait for valuable information to accumulate.

I've been busy writing for other people. This meant using the words that they use, learning the language they speak and of course unlearning the words that I usually revert to. It was fun! My walls are covered with Post-Its now.

I invite you to do this, too. Pay attention to the words other people use to describe the same things. The choice of words (and the order in which we put them) are a reflection of our thought patterns and ultimately of our identity. If you really want to be understood, the first step is to shut up. Languages are pretty complex. There are many ways to say the same thing.

That being said, each newsletter has at least one book to read. In today's case, it's several. All the books I've gathered on my server, so far. It's also all past newsletters, for you to decide if you want to keep reading them or they're simply not for you.

Otherwise, if one of your New Year's resolutions was to read more books, here are some that you don't have carry around.

Evergreen Resources

The Great Wall of Books

Information wants to be free. I find bootleg books and upload them on my website. Business, Leadership, Philosophy and Architecture. Oxford Handbooks included.

Newsletter Archive

I make correlations between books that seemingly have nothing to do with each other, and I write articles about them. The newsletters include both books and articles so they are a great place to start. Some writing is just free thought.

A New Book

After sitting in many meetings and noticing that some business owners use certain words, but others use different words, leading to them reaching some vague agreements, I figured it was important to put all those words in one place.

So pay attention to the words you use. Not only for when others listen to you, but also for when you listen to yourself. The brain really likes feedback loops. Who knows, you might be able to invite some new things in your life this new year, simply by using new words.

I spoke to several crypto founders thinking they have a fundraising problem when it was more of a structure problem. Here’s what typically happens: The token captures the upside The company holds the costs Corporate governance is basically nonexistent From a VC perspective there is: No clear ownership. No clean equity story. No way to win. So even if the project is good, no one cares. Institutional investors don’t fund “crypto projects.”They fund vehicles where value capture, control, and...

Right so today you'll learn about how to put a price tag on your business, even if it doesn't have revenue yet. This is aimed at two types of business owners: the startup founders and the crypto founders. First of all, why are we doing this? Last week I was invited to a podcast ran by Tahir who owns the biggest business trading platform in Dubai. I loved discussing with him because he knew exactly how to do company valuations, using all three methodologies. We joked about the fact that owners...

LAUNCHING The Equity Academy First group session, everybody! I built a platform where high quality founders, owners, managers, operators can find each other. I put all my tools in there that help you generate a pitch deck (course included), company valuation and funding round design. There's a chatbot in there too, i trained him on all my relevant books. Deciding what to build 'How do I know what to build?' This was by far the most frequent question I got from founders. Because, the thing is,...
