I’ve spent a violent amount of time learning about business. Some of it came from my dad's books. Some from research. Some from doing actual business, making mistakes, negotiating deals, raising money, working with investors, and figuring things out the hard way. And at some point I started wondering if there is a better way to learn business acumen than reading hundreds of books and learning everything through trial and error. So I decided to run an experiment. I built the Value Fabricator. It’s a completely free educational resource for people who want to get better at understanding business, capital, leadership, strategy and value creation. No paywall and no upsell waiting at the end, lol. It will forever be free. This ain't my livelihood. I'm not retarded. Inside, there are currently:
Instead of just giving you information, I want to see if we can make business acumen something you can actually practice, like the violin or something. Knowing that something exists is very different from knowing how to use it. You can read about valuation, fundraising, strategy. Even leadership. Eventually you have to be able to look at an actual company, an actual decision, an actual opportunity and say “I understand what is happening here.” I don’t know yet whether this method works. It’s a research project. I want to see whether structured learning, practical tools, an AI mentor, a serious library of source material can make learning business significantly easier. In the words of Benjamin Franklin: "Tell me and I forget, teach me and I understand, involve me and I learn." If you’re building a company, thinking about raising capital, trying to become a better leader, or simply want to understand how businesses actually work, go play with it. And if you use it, I’d really love to know what you think. So try it and let me know. Anybody can vibecode an educational platform. But we're trying to figure out if this is actually a better way to learn. Happy businessing, dr. Sorina Dumitru |
The topics will be mostly about leadership, economics, and operational/strategic growth. Exits or Funding Rounds. Free books included. Yeah I was in Forbes but that was a long time ago.
It's been 6 months since I made the decision to talk to a stranger every day. A proper conversation. Because I heard Dan Martell saying at one point "Never eat alone." Some of them were in real life, some of them on Zoom, plenty in the DMs. There have been 178 days so far, I think I had over 200 conversations. It's a lot for someone neurospicy such as myself. A couple of things happened: my Instagram account is now flagged as "scam" because I sent out so many Calendly links I landed a summer...
I spoke to several crypto founders thinking they have a fundraising problem when it was more of a structure problem. Here’s what typically happens: The token captures the upside The company holds the costs Corporate governance is basically nonexistent From a VC perspective there is: No clear ownership. No clean equity story. No way to win. So even if the project is good, no one cares. Institutional investors don’t fund “crypto projects.”They fund vehicles where value capture, control, and...
Right so today you'll learn about how to put a price tag on your business, even if it doesn't have revenue yet. This is aimed at two types of business owners: the startup founders and the crypto founders. First of all, why are we doing this? Last week I was invited to a podcast ran by Tahir who owns the biggest business trading platform in Dubai. I loved discussing with him because he knew exactly how to do company valuations, using all three methodologies. We joked about the fact that owners...
