I'm in Piatra Neamt Bitches.

I'm in Piatra Neamt, Bitches.

Hi there,

It’s been a while since we’ve seen each other in your inbox. Lots of stuff has happened since then.

I closed down the digital fabrication workshop after doing a journaling exercise and realizing that, no, in fact, this is not where I want all my attention to go.

I sold my apartment and moved into a smaller place after deciding that, no, in fact, I will not be needing that extra bedroom.

I wrote a book about Vacation Architecture after understanding that, no, in fact, people aren’t curious to read about my theoretical architecture research. Instead, they are interested in learning about beautiful places they can visit and are genuinely curious about my personal stories around these beautiful places.

I did a book launch in the form of a Mediterranean Dinner with a small group of friends and family when I decided that, no, in fact, I do not want to do a big book launch with several people that I don’t really know. I would rather just have us pretend, for one night, that we are all on vacation together, and enjoy ourselves and each other’s company.

It's ok to change your mind.

This newsletter was supposed to be about the nice family I met on my trip to Piatra Neamt. This family runs a glamping site - no easy feat. They told me how they started working on the project in 2019, after first learning about the concept of glamping in 2016. They started construction in 2022 and just had their first summer season in 2024. They had:

  • No money
  • No prior experience
  • No land
  • No infrastructure on the land (after they bought the land)

While it’s ok to change your mind, this family is an example of what you can achieve if you don’t change your mind. Even when it would be easier to.

So it’s also ok to change your mind about it being ok to change your mind.

See you next week.

Also buy my book, it’s also in cheap pdf version if you’d like to see the preview first. But the physical one is an art book. You may want that too.

The topics will be mostly about architecture, design, and some personal development I had to do along the way (so you don't have to learn the hard way, like I did).

This Week's Mental Struggles money and sex is all we exchange Looking back, this whole train of thought was triggered by a new life event that's about to happen (stated at the end of this email). In January, during the expedition for my next book about Alpine Vacation Architecture, I visited one of those very familiar types of car centric city: Salzburg. Looks great from the car, but not much to see aside from the city center - your standard issue European pedestrian area. The outskirts are...

If it triggers an emotional response, it's designed to. Here are some of this past week's struggles. Pinterest used to be one of my favorite platforms for visual inspiration. However, me and Pinterest had a little falling out. I hadn’t been using it actively for almost two years. Last weekend I spent some time on it and it surprised me how useless it’s become. The interior design content was flooded with AI generated images. I could barely find real pictures of existing spaces for...

Culture House, Satu Mare, arch. Nicolae Porumbescu Mission Economy in Architecture Some things I was obsessing over this February This month, I spent some time in Satu Mare. During that time, I stared at some 'Brutalist' architecture from the 1970s. It photographs nicely. The large scale concrete ornaments, sharp edges and repetitive patterns give the town's main square that Brutalist vibe. On a closer look, you start noticing a small symbol. It's everywhere: carved on the back of the wooden...
